Anne and I were in Las Vegas last week to attend Wedding & Portrait Photography International’s annual convention and print competition. It is by far the largest (and most prestigious) in the industry.
We just found out some great news… one of our images from Jane and Peter’s wedding last year won an award. Needless to say that we are thrilled for Jane and Peter.
A little history on the winning image: At the Miller Lash House (where they got married), we finished the family portraits and headed over to the clay tennis courts on the property for some quiet time. What I did not know before their wedding day was that Peter used to be a professional tennis player, so the tennis courts were near and dear to his heart. Mother nature had a lot of rain for us on the day – and fortunately, we had a small break in the weather. Thus, everything came together to create the winning image you see above.

Another very busy (and extremely successful) year comes to a close. This was our first complete year operating out of Stratford, Ontario after we relocated the studio from Toronto in June 2007 – so we are now photographing weddings (and other events) in the GTA, London, Hamilton and surrounding areas.
We were also extremely honoured to be named Wedding and Portrait Photographers International’s (WPPI) Studio of the Month for October 2008 and are touched by the hundreds of people who called and/or emailed congratulating us on this achievement.
A BIG thank you is in order to our amazing clients for making our studio such a success! We have the honour of photographing some of the most amazing people on the planet and it is our pleasure to serve you. We will continue to update our products which also includes family, event and architectural photography plus our ever expanding line of custom made fine art albums.
There’s no way I can operate this studio by myself… and I am very grateful to my wife Anne, David Chang-Sang, Ralph Heinze, Kristen Amies, Sheila Braam and Zeus for all of their hard work this year. I am very proud of this amazing team we have assembled.

Earlier this month, our studio was named “Studio of the Month” by Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI). One thing that we didn’t find out until recently is that our blog (the one you are reading now) was also featured in WPPI’s October 2008 newsletter. You can read what they said about it in the image above. We are thrilled to be recognized once again by our peers.
Thank you to all of you who have called and written to us expressing your congratulations and best wishes over the past few weeks. We are honoured with the response to WPPI naming us their Studio of the Month and are extremely grateful for your support.

Our studio, Roël Photography, is a member of Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI). WPPI is based in Culver City, California and is the world’s largest professional wedding photography organization with over 30,000 members in at least 30 countries. Their wedding photography competitions are widely regarded as the most prestigious in the industry.
Once a month, WPPI selects one of their member studios worldwide and features them on their website and in their monthly newsletter. I am happy to let you know that Roël Photography has been chosen as their studio of the month for October 2008. Since 2001, we are only the third Canadian studio to ever receive this honour.

Last week, Anne and I attended the Wedding & Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) convention and competition in Las Vegas. We found out that one of our albums received an “Accolade of Excellence” in the album competition. To put things in perspective, there were well over 2,000 album submissions and only the top 5% received this award, so needless to say that we are very happy to be singled out )
