I love supporting great causes… and here is a plug for a fashion event happening in Stratford that will support a couple great charities.
Danna Nicole is hosting an evening of food, wine and fashion on November 13th, 2009 at 8pm. The best part of this event is that ticket sale proceeds plus 10% of all store sales from this event will be donated to Maji Matzue Orphanage in Africa and Optimism Place of Stratford.

We’ve had some really odd weather this year, so when you get a lovely, sunny, autumn day, well… you just want to get outside and take in the sunshine.
Mother Nature was really kind recently when I spent some time with Kayleen and Gerben. They will be getting married next year in Stratford so we got together for their engagement session.
Gerben’s family has a really beautiful farm somewhere between Stratford and Woodstock (OK, so I can be directionally challenged sometimes) and we spent the afternoon there – walking around, talking, entertaining the horses, having a little (OK, a lot) of fun and chasing the light until it disappeared. And as you can see from the colours in the photos, it was a beautiful autumn day!

In the winter of 2008, I had the pleasure of meeting Holly at a bridal show. When Holly and her fiancé Nathan invited me to their home the following year, I knew they were extremely well organized. Why did know this? Not only did they take a year to research wedding photographers, they also booked us to photograph their wedding over 18 months in advance!
We recently spent some time together in Stratford for their engagement session. It was a really leisurely time together despite the cool and cloudy weather. I really appreciated the opportunity to get to know them better before their wedding day.

I recently had the honour of spending some time with Christiana and Taso – two really lovely people who decided to come our fair city of Stratford for the their engagement session. They will be getting married early next year and it was wonderful to get to know them a little better after corresponding via email for almost a year! They are two of the most patient people around… we’ve had to postpone our session several times due to inclement weather and as you can see in the slide show, Mother Nature was very kind to us during their session.

For you ladies who like to come to our fair city for a day of theatre and SHOPPING, I am really happy to announce the recent opening of Danna Nicole in downtown Stratford.
Danna (the owner) is a friend of ours who has redefined customer service (for the better) in retail, but most importantly, she has an amazing eye for fashion, colour and texture. If you are looking for the perfect outfit – for a prom, cocktail party, the theatre – or even for the bridesmaids in a wedding, you owe yourself a visit to Danna Nicole. Anne, Jeff and I recently had the pleasure of attending and photographing the wedding of Megan and Denis. Megan is originally from our fair city of Stratford and Denis hails from Sudbury… and both of them now call Toronto home.
We spent some time with them during their engagement session last year and it seems like it was only yesterday. Their wedding day started off with Megan and her attendants getting ready in Stratford – then we were off to meet up with Denis and his crazy guys at the church. After a really touching ceremony (thank you Rev. Janice) the bridal party headed out for a very brief time to a nearby park as mother nature gave us some glorious sunshine for the afternoon after a rainy morning. And needless to say… the reception was a lot of fun.

Anne and I had the pleasure of spending some time recently with Janet and Don of Toronto. They came to our fair city of Stratford for their engagement session – and we are glad that they did visit as we love showing people around our new home town.
Stratford has many beautiful parks and we spent the afternoon visiting them (with camera in hand, of course). We walked around and chatted about many things, including their upcoming wedding in Toronto this summer.

Hello, this is Zeus again, but you can call me Zeubie.
I had a great idea a few weeks ago so I called meeting of everyone in the studio (I love the power of being the Chief Executive Dog). I told them about my idea and they loved it, so I have been busy putting everything together.
So what is it?
roëlphotography now offers dog photography (in addition to our wedding work)!
If you look at the top of this blog (or on our home page www.roelphoto.com), you will see a photo on the far right hand side of the menu section that says “dogs“. Click on it, and you can see our nicegreatbeautiful fantastic doggy website.
We are running an introductory special until the end of June 2009… you can receive the dog portrait sitting (hey man, I made a joke!) and a beautiful 11″x14″ canvas gallery wrap for only 250.00 bones dollars plus tax. After that date, it will go back to its normal price.
Once in a while, we visit a dog shelter and we see so many cool dogs who need a good home. While they are at the shelter, they need medicine, food and sometimes need to see the medicine dog doctor which gets really expensive. So, I have decided that 10% of all of our dog photography sales will be donated to the Humane Society as I want to help out my fellow canines.
So, check out the site, get some very cool dog pictures taken and support a great cause. You can also give it as a gift to someone who is a dog parent via our doggy gift registry.

Anne and I had the pleasure of spending some time with our newest furry friend, Milverton. He is part Lab and currently 8 years old… and for those of you who live in Ontario, well, he was named after the town of Milverton, Ontario.
Milverton: thank you for hanging out with us and being so well behaved. We hope to see you again soon!
For those of you who know Anne and me really well, you will attest to the fact that we adore our dog, Zeus. Not only is Zeus our Chief Executive Dog (he slept his way to the top), we think he is the cutest little guy on four paws. Then again, we are very biased.
For those of you who have a dog, you will know exactly what I mean. When Zeus was a puppy, we would teach him tricks, how to sit, etc. Then one day I realised that we teach dogs very little… but dogs teach us a lot. They are very old and wise souls, IMHO. They know how to have fun, play, be themselves – and they are one of the few creatures on the planet that know how to love unconditionally. Who could ask for anything more?
So, if you have a dog, give him/her a great big hug and a cookie. We’ll be doing the same for our little Zeus!
