Man’s Best Friend

For those of you who know Anne and me really well, you will attest to the fact that we adore our dog, Zeus. Not only is Zeus our Chief Executive Dog (he slept his way to the top), we think he is the cutest little guy on four paws. Then again, we are very biased.

For those of you who have a dog, you will know exactly what I mean. When Zeus was a puppy, we would teach him tricks, how to sit, etc. Then one day I realised that we teach dogs very little… but dogs teach us a lot. They are very old and wise souls, IMHO. They know how to have fun, play, be themselves – and they are one of the few creatures on the planet that know how to love unconditionally. Who could ask for anything more?

So, if you have a dog, give him/her a great big hug and a cookie. We’ll be doing the same for our little Zeus!

As the Chief Executive Dog for Roël Photography, I wanted to say “WOOF”. And – if you do not understand dog, that means “HAPPY NEW YEAR” in people talk.

Some people have asked me what a Chief Executive Dog does… well, I sleep work really, really hard and instead of telling you all about it, I will show you some pictures of me sleeping hard at work.

It gets really cold for us little dogs here in Stratford, so we have to bundle up!

Chief Executive Dog Update

Since our Chief Executive Dog (Zeus) doesn’t have opposable thumbs, he asked me to provide you with an update since his appointment.

He is happy.

He likes to play.

He likes to eat.

He likes to sleep.

And… he likes his new sweater. A little dog needs help against the Canadian winter!

Thank you Zeus for all of your hard work. We can all learn a lot from you!.

roëlphotography appoints Zeus to be Chief Executive Dog

Stratford, Ontario – February 13, 2008. roëlphotography announced today that it has reached an agreement with Zeus to become their Chief Executive Dog (CED) effective immediately.

Zeus (also known as, “Dr. Zeus”) holds a special certificate in Back Office Networking Expertise (BONE) and is especially well qualified with regard to Single Lens Elements & Emissions Products (SLEEP). He will spend most of his time at roëlphotography‘s head (and only) office in Stratford and has found the ideal ~~blanket~~ strategy for ~~sleeping~~ supervising staff.

When Dr. Zeus was asked about his appointment and also about his thoughts on the imaging industry as it pertains to roëlphotography, his comment was, “Woof.”

The Nikon D300 and Zeus

Many of you know that my wife and I have the cutest little dog on the planet (OK, so we are biased!). Anyway, poor little Zeus has been modeling for me non-stop since I got my Nikon D300 in the first batch that entered Canada. Hey, Zeus is really concerned that when I photograph him and his canine friends, that the fur tones will be perfect.

A number of you have asked me for a review of the D300… well, it won’t be a full review – I’ll leave that to sites like DP Review. In the next week or so, I will post my thoughts on this great new camera from Nikon. Zeus and I will be hard at work testing our new ~~toy~~ camera.

Oh yeah, Zeus says, “WOOF!”

King Zeus is Back!

Back when I first started this blog, I wrote a short post on King Zeus, who incidentally happens to be my grand puppy (he calls me “Gumpa”). Little Zeus, who is a 2 year old Maltipoo (part Poodle, part Maltese), is staying with us for awhile, so we get to spend more time with this little bundle of joy.

Zeus has his own website and many people have written to him asking for more photographs. He hasn’t quite figured out how to use my camera (and he is still learning HTML for his own blog), so he asked me to post a few shots of him.

Here is little Zeus as a puppy – all of 3 months old!

Here are a couple shots of Zeus modeling his new sweater that his Grandmother (known as “Gummy”) made him – and just him hanging out.

Zeus is one of the smartest dogs on the planet – he reads a lot and also keeps asking if he can assist me when I am photographing a wedding (I think he secretly wants to be a wedding photographer!) But – reading so many books has taken its toll on his eyes, so we got him some new glasses.

Also, notice in these photographs all of the books in the background. He is a well read dog.

Zeus, we’re glad to have you home… it won’t be long before you start up your own blog…

So you’re probably wondering… who exactly is “King Zeus”?

Answer: He is my grand-puppy (my step children’s dog) and the cutest little thing on four paws.

My wife and I are currently dog sitting this one year old Maltipoo (half Maltese and half Poodle) who is a bundle of energy and a major joy in our lives’. He is such a great little guy.
