For those of you who visit our blog regularly, you may have noticed that it just underwent some cosmetic surgery (so to speak). We’ve received a lot of feedback over the past year on how to improve navigation, layout, size of images/video – and we are pleased to have implemented our readers’ recommendations.
In addition to lots of minor changes, there are two new major features of our new and improved blog:
- We have improved the navigation to different parts of our site. Just place your cursor over the images at the top of the blog and click on the section of the site you wish to visit.
- The sidebar has been moved to the left and has been reorganized for easier access to the information in it.

More great news about one of my clients.
Samantha and Chris were married recently in Toronto – they had an absolutely wonderful ceremony and reception. The Guelph Mercury decided to run a feature article on our studio after Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) named Roël Photography their “Studio of the Month” for October 2008 – and in the Mercury’s article, Samantha and Chris are featured! So congratulations to you both!

When I was a university student, Cyndi Lauper’s song, “Girls Just Want To Have Fun“, was the #1 hit for the longest time. It is light hearted and just fun to listen to. And as its title implies… well… girls want to have fun.
So a message to all brides to be… have fun on your wedding day! Laugh, play, enjoy the day… and don’t forget to dance and have fun!

More great news about one of my clients.
I just found out that Kymmy, another great model I worked with in Detroit earlier this year, made it into the Harley Davidson Calendar for 2009. And needless to say, I am thrilled for her!

I had the pleasure of working with Stacia from Detroit this past spring… she’s a fantastic model in addition to being an exceptionally pleasant person.
I recently found out that Stacia was named one of the 20 finalists for Detroit’s Top Model, which is part of America’s Top Model contest. Needless to say, I am thrilled for her and all of us at Roël Photography hope that she is chosen for the top honour.

Our studio started a Facebook group a while back. We’ve had a really busy wedding season this year and I have to apologize to the members… I haven’t had much time to visit the group or post new images over the summer.

Earlier this month, our studio was named “Studio of the Month” by Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI). One thing that we didn’t find out until recently is that our blog (the one you are reading now) was also featured in WPPI’s October 2008 newsletter. You can read what they said about it in the image above. We are thrilled to be recognized once again by our peers.
Thank you to all of you who have called and written to us expressing your congratulations and best wishes over the past few weeks. We are honoured with the response to WPPI naming us their Studio of the Month and are extremely grateful for your support.

Dear Friends,
Our studio, Roël Photography, is a member of Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI). WPPI is based in Culver City, California and is the world’s largest professional wedding photography organization with over 30,000 members in at least 30 countries. Their wedding photography competitions are widely regarded as the most prestigious in the industry.
Once a month, WPPI selects one of their member studios worldwide and features them on their website and in their monthly newsletter. I am happy to let you know that Roël Photography has been chosen as their studio of the month for October 2008. Since 2001, we are only the third Canadian studio to ever receive this honour.
As you can imagine, we are thrilled with this news and I am extremely proud of the fantastic team we have assembled:
- my wife Anne who is our master image retoucher, album designer and business manager;
- our associate photographer David Chang-Sang;
- our graphics designer, Kristen Amies; and
- our Chief Executive Dog, Zeus.
They are all first class professionals and have contributed immensely to our success.

Happy Canada Day!
Wedding season is well underway and we have many great couples and their families/friends to photograph this year. A number of people (current and prospective clients) have asked me when they can expect to view and receive their images once their wedding is over. Here is what you can expect:
- Within one week of your wedding day, your online slide show and complete image gallery will be available for you to view.
- Within two weeks of your wedding day, you will receive your printed proofs and DVD of edited high resolution files.
- Within 3 weeks of choosing your album images, you will be shown the initial design for your review.
- Depending on the style of album you have chosen with your collection, you will receive your album and parent books within 6-9 weeks of approving your final design.
