Why I Do What I Do

Once in a while, a prospective client or someone I’ve just met asks me why I do what I do. Mere words cannot describe the feeling I get when someone asks me to photograph their wedding.
Creating beautiful images are important at any wedding… and beautiful images include heartfelt moments.
Last week, I photographed Jessica and Stuart in London, Ontario. I captured the image above just after Jessica’s father walked her down the aisle – he joined Jessica’s mother and grandmother for the remainder of the ceremony. My eyes well up with tears when I am able to capture moments like these.
So, if you are a photographer who visits my blog, remember that on the wedding day, beauty is all around you and our job is to capture it. It is an honour to play such a large role in helping families remember their special moments.
« Jessica and Stuart’s Wedding

Fathers, don’t ever hold back as the emotions of the happy day wash over you. Let the happy tears flow. Jessica and I laughed and cried as we walked down the aisle together and Roel captured the entire range of those emotions and so many more.
The is something magical about this man Roel, who comes aboard as a photographer, but finds his way much deeper into the souls of the family and somehow becomes a part of us. Roel understands and captures the emerging confluence of the two pasts, the spectacular moments of the merging in the present and the inspiration of the couples future together. He brings an artistic genius you can’t imagine with him.
Without ever intruding, Roel somehow senses and magically captures the entire range of emotions and experiences of what will be the most magical day of your daughter’s life. He brings out things you don’t have time to see on the day, so you can enjoy and remember them.
Roel and Anne and their pictures will be a part of our family for life, one of many perfect decisions Jessica made planning her wedding. If your daughter is planning a wedding, she surely deserves the best photographer you can find. Look no further, book Roel first and then go find the church and reception hall.
